Description
You are bidding on an Astatic DN-50. When received the connector insert in the microphone base that mates with the stand was completely destroyed, the cord was not good, and the unit needed cleaning. I obtained a 3-pin male connector insert and drilled / tapped a new hole at Pin 1 on the connector insert so that when installed in the mike the mike would line up correctly with the base (with the push-to-talk lever on the left as seen from the front). I soldered a wire in Pin 1 that the mounting screw would press against so that the mike case (the upper part) would be correctly bonded to the base via Pin 1 when the mike head was screwed on to the stand. Because the mounting screw for the connector insert is a standard thread (4-40) but with a smaller-than-normal head I obtained a 4-40 flathead screw and ground the head down to be flush with the mike base when it was installed. I installed a new cord on the microphone. It's a straight cord (not coiled) about 6' long. The two mike element leads are brought out on the yellow and orange leads (ungrounded) with a shield over them, and the push-to-talk leads (blue and white) are floating. I removed the black cover inside the grille and cleaned the grill, the mike case, and the base with Dawn dish soap. There are some scratches on the base and on the mike case. The element inside works correctly, as can be seen from the waveform photo. This should serve well for a long time. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
